3D Silk Paintings
I started creating silk paintings after I realized that I was tired of painting two dimensional artworks; they seemed so static. These silk paintings are hung with hemp cord or wire from either driftwood or bendable copper tubing. Doing this makes the silk hang in levels for panels or in the shape of the driftwood. These paintings do not hang on a wall, but rather from a ceiling; they are meant to be walked around. The nature of the silk creates wonderful possibilities in that it moves with the slightest breath of air and it is translucent - any light will make the paintings seem to glow and the paintings are visible from both sides.
